At the moment (at least here in Ireland) it doesn't look like we will be getting a summer anytime soon. I, for one, am tired of looking at my dull, wintery, pale complexion. So I decided to cheat a little and resort to a little faking.
I am absolutely useless at applying tan so I usually go for the wash off formulations (like Rimmel Shimmer) - all well and good, but this ritual leaves me with a freaky white face and lovely bronzed body. Up til now I have been using the Chanel Tan de Soleil Bronzing Base (it is amazing when used sparingly!!) but a few days ago I came across some of the new Borujois offerings - the Bronzing Primer and BB cream.
Let's start with the primer - it's a light, bouncy, nearly mousse-like texture. It really does smooth out your skin and applies nice and even. You have to bear in mind that this is not a cream bronzer to be used for contouring (although you probably could make it work with a bit of patience and a good blending brush).
I just applied this with fingers and it left a nice soft bronzed skin. You can wear it on it's own or apply foundation over it. The colour is good, it's not too orange and it can be sheered out to nearly nothing. The smell reminds me more of coconut than chocolate but it's till yum!
The BB cream is of a more gel-like texture, very light and a little bit darker than the primer. This product promises 16h moisturisation, to even out skin tone, a sheer tint, etc. - basically all the standard BB cream features. This product would be very nice on someone who already has a natural tan and good skin. On a pale skin it is a little bit harder to apply evenly than the primer but because of the consistency it is not at all greasy and really refreshing on the skin and lasts very well on the skin without sliding off.
With both of these you will have to remember to cover your hairline, ears, behind the ears and neck to avoid any white bits of skin showing though. If you are not using a tan all over your body make sure you also cover any visible skin.
All in all, I prefer the primer for my skin type and colour but both products are really great buys for the summer and a great alternative to the (quite pricey) Chanel bronzing base. You can also get a bronzing powder in the collection, I tend to reach for creme products in the summer more often though.
I really recommend these and at the affordable price point (I bought them for €8.99 in Boots) I think they will be a big hit this summer.
If you have tried these, let me know how you got on.
