Best of Beauty | Skincare Saviours

Best of Beauty | Skincare SavioursWe are a bit late to the party... but better late than never! The lovely Samantha from All The Buzz has organized this 8 week long blogging challenge - fab idea, by the way - for the Irish beauty blogging community. It's called Best Of Beauty and means that all of us will be posting a themed article every Thursday at 7pm (today being an exception!). Without further ado, I will get started on yesterdays category which was Skincare Saviours. You know me and skincare... I couldn't miss this one!

Dr Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Face Cream I have blogged about this cream ages ago and it is still my to go face cream for nighttime or for when I am not leaving the house and need some extra moisture. It is quite a rich moisturiser, so definitely not for everyone. The texture of the cream is very pleasant and it's a joy to be putting it on after a whole day of wearing makeup. It calms irritated skin and gives a lot of hydration. It's very good for red and sensitive skins.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Also one I have banged on about several times (check previous post out here) but it just is THAT good. It's not a spa-like product at all, it's not scented and doesn't look particularly attractive (reminds me of lard) but it is the best, hard working cleanser I have ever tried. It is great for sensitive skin, you can take eye makeup off with it (doesn't sting at all, even with eyes open!) and it just leaves your skin fresh and clean without making it feel tight.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm €28 from Boots

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo* This one is a miracle product when it comes to problematic skin. I do break out sometimes and when I do, this is what I use. It's a bit of a hybrid product - a treatment that works on several different things: localized skin imperfections, unclogging blocked pores and soothing the skin. The great thing about this product is that you can use it all over your skin and it won't leave you with a prune of a face. I couldn't be without it, it's a miracle! Miracle, I tell you!

*this product has been reformulated and will appear in shops shortly under the name Effaclar Duo +. It's still the same product with some added benefits (more on that shortly!)

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo €14.99 from Boots (offer)

Indeed Labs Hydraluron A relatively new (approx. 3 months) addition to my skincare that very quickly became an absolute favourite. This is a serum that makes your moisturiser work that bit deeper and over time increases the moisture level and elasticity in your skin. I have very quickly seen the results of Hydraluron on myself. The product is fantastic for dehydrated skin! I always have a backup of this, I'm terrified of running out. You need to use a moisturiser with it, otherwise it won't do much for you & I use it every day under my regular moisturiser (no greasy layer as it sinks into the skin very quickly). It's an affordable product (available in Boots) which is just another bonus!

Indeed Labs Hydraluron €21.99 from Boots (offer)

Lush Grease Lightening Another SOS treatment of mine, for when a breakout strikes. I used to use all these really harsh spot creams that get rid of your spot pretty much instantly but leave you with a red and dried out mark for a week (it is way easier to conceal a spot that a dry, flaky patch!). I've grown older and wiser and now use Lush's Grease Lightening which is a spot gel that contains natural ingredients like witchhazel and tea tree & gets rid of your spot in a gentle way, reducing the redness and making the spot go away slowly rather than burning a hole in your skin.

Lush Grease Lightening approx. €7 from Lush

Pixi Glow Tonic I am all about the exfoliating toners lately. Since Pixi have started shipping this product to Ireland from their website (it was soooo hard to get hold of before!) I have been using it twice daily. This is a cult product and I am sure all you beauty buffs have heard about it already. It is basically a gentle, alcohol-free exfoliating toner that contains aloe vera & ginseng to sooth and brighten. It very gently exfoliates your skin leaving you with a smooth and glowing complexion. A full post will appear on the blog shortly. This product is fantastic!!

Pixi Glow Tonic approx. €20 from Pixi Beauty

I could go on for ages in this category but I had to restrain myself and just share my top six with you, otherwise you would be sitting here reading a novel. What are your top Skincare Saviours?
