Vichy Dermablend: The Extreme Coverage Wonder

IMG_5905.jpg

Vichy DermablendThe original Demablend formula was created by an American dermatologist Dr. N. Craig Roberts who came up with the idea for a extremely high coverage foundation for his wife who suffered from facial vitiligo. It performed extremely well and quickly became a very popular product in the US and the No 1 coverage brand recommended by dermatologists. The extreme coverage product was then added to the Vichy Laboratories family in 2003 and is now available in 36 countries across the world.

Vichy DermablendIf you have been reading this blog for a while you probably already know that I am a huge fan of the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation (€21.50) and Corrective Stick (€16.95). I have always used these in my professional kit & personal make-up bag as high coverage concealers and I never want to be without them! Personally, on my own skin, I don't use the Dermablend foundations all over my skin as I simply don't need this amount of coverage all over but I highly recommend having one of the foundations & a corrective stick in your make-up arsenal, they will come in handy in case of a sudden breakout or redness! The liquid foundation is also fabulous as a super high coverage under-eye concealer and helps with my dark circles!

Vichy DermablendThe Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder* is not new but I only discovered it recently. It's a micro-fine loose powder that is designed to set and extend the hold of the Dermablend foundations. I genuinely love this powder and use it with all my other foundations - it is super fine and truly invisible on the skin. Because of it's fine texture it doesn't give you that dusty finish on the skin and looks very natural. It is €20 and I will be re-purchasing for sure when this one is finished.

Vichy DermablendThe Corrective Cream Foundation* (€24.50) is a new addition to the Dermablend range. It's a high coverage, compact foundation designed to conceal minor to severe skin concerns like redness, dark circles, vitiligo, scarring etc. The formula is waterproof and long-lasting.

Wearing the Corrective Compact Cream Foundation in 15 Opal (applied with fingers and set with the Dermablend Setting Powder)

I find that it's best applied with fingers, I never use sponges to apply my makeup and with a brush it was way too cakey for me. For a natural finish I use more in the centre of my face, where I have a bit of redness, and on my chin, where I have currently a massive and hideous breakout, and blend it out onto the rest of my face in as thin a layer as possible (you can see above that it covered absolutely everything!!). I would highly recommend this product for touching up during the day - it has a huge mirror, provides great coverage and lasts an absolute age. It has an SPF 30 so I would reserve this foundation for daytime use as it might flash back in night time photographs.

Vichy DermablendAnother new addition to the Dermablend family is the Total Body Corrective Foundation* (€25 for 100 ml). It is designed for people seeking to cover moderate to severe body imperfections or concerns such as scars, stretch marks, varicose veins and tattoos. The formula is hydrating and long-lasting and is meant to last for up to 16 hours. The coverage is buildable so it will conceal  everything that needs to be covered, even black ink tattoos! It is available in 3 shades: Light, Medium & Dark. I would personally use this product to cover bruises and any red marks on my legs (I bruise like a peach!!) but I can imagine it would help out ladies that are conscious about stretchmarks or veins during bikini season!

If you are interested to see the effects of the range on acne, tattoos and redness head over to my previous post and have a look. Also keep your eyes out for a post on covering acne (coming soon!) as I have lots to say on the subject and this post is already long enough!

I love all of these products but there is one gripe I have with the line: the shade range. There are 5 shades in the range with 15 Opal being the lightest. This is the one that I use and it suits me but if you are any paler than me the products will be to dark. I would love to see more shades or possibly a white foundation to mix with the current colours.

Have you tried any of the Vichy Dermablend products? You know I am a fan but would love to hear what you think of them!

A. xx
