Being major Mac addicts, we sadly get a little flutter of excitement whenever a new line, campaign or pigment (!) arrives in store. Also having an unreasonable attraction to pretty packaging, the arrival of their Making Pretty’ Collection has added a whole list of items onto my mental wishlist. Being drawn not so much the shades on offer but more so the fabulous vintage inspired packaging combining rose gold with pale pink faux shagreen (a rawhide leather imitation), its spells out 50’s glamour and there’s something very Lana Del Ray about the whole collection.
The collection includes lipstick in 3N (dusky pale pink) and Runaway Red (soft darker red), sheer ‘mystery’ sheer pressed powder in three shades: Dark Secret, Light Medium, and Medium Plus, Loose Iridescent Powder (complete with powder puff topped off with a black satin bow) and a two piece face & eye brush set. With the brush duo alone coming in at $100 this one is a pricey collection and has yet to be seen at Irish counters- with some items sold out online, sadly it’s doubtful they’ll be reaching our shores anytime soon. What we can look forward to is the collections to follow Mac beauty trend predictions 2013! As advised by the always brilliant Glamour beauty (www.glamour.com/beauty) there are four key face-trends being forecasted for the coming year:
1. Nu-ance: beautifully barefaced this look is really minimalist with a flawless base, complimented with soft pigments, pretty pastels and natural contouring.
2. Sig-nature: gorgeous highlighted glow creates a radiant dewy base, with shaded brows, a naked lash and a natural lip.
3. Sci-chedelic: dramatic block colouring on lids combines with a graphic liner for the mod-inspired intense look.
4. Puri-tan: beautifully smoked bronze lids and cheekbones with a natural lip set on a dewy base (LOVE this one!)
