As the last of the long evenings draws to a close Im loving clinging to anything summer for dear life- did I mention Im writing this from a beach in San Sebastian! (more on that later) Right now I heart... 1. Mani Pedi's at Fifth Ave
Fifth Avenue nails is based a stones throw from Brown Thomas side enterance on Wicklow St (they also have a branch in Cork) and has become a favourite spot for an almost weekly manicure and sometimes pedicure. Its such a lovely girly date and prices are great with a mini-manicure setting you back a mere €10 with results always second to none.
2. 777 Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Cocktail Bar
Finally after hearing so much about 777, and being turned away from a full house on a thumping Saturday night, I got to try a slightly more chilled Sunday lunch. 777 is a very cool, kitsch, Mexican hideaway based on George's St. No detail was spared with the authenticity and there's a definite hipster vibe but not in a 'we like bands that dont even exist yet' kind of way..!
So nursing a sore head himself and myself worked our way through the Seventh Day €7.77 Sunday Menu- be warned, portions are delicious but small and we noticed alot of other tables taking our tapas style approach to ordering.
My very favourite was the Taco del Dia, which on this Sunday were pulled pork soft tacos- sweet Mother of God they're incredible. Washed down with a hair of the dog passionfruit daquiri that had a decent kick to get you back on your toes! 777 we'll be back...
3. GHD Air Hair Dryer
Finally I got my hands on my most recent object of lust, the GHD Air Hair Dryer and straight of the bat I'm a big fan. Complete with two nozzle attachments this dryer is a lightweight powerhouse when it comes to tackling my uncooperative mane. Armed with a truckload of features from 3m power cable- suprisingly handy, ergonomically sound (important for us lefties), ionic technology for a shinier, softer finish and 2100 watts to take on your lovely locks. Its available from select Peter Mark salons (make sure to ask about the €25 trade in offer).
4. Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate
We both agree that Kiehl's have bottled some sort of fountain of youth magic in this little brown bottle. There's an intense focus on 'continuous delivery of 10.5% vitamin C' targeting the usual problem area's which show the mileage quickest, mostly around eyes and mouth. Close to scentless, it soaks into skin almost immediately and I've been using in the place of a moisturiser following a heavy oil cleanser so there's no chance of drying out but you can also opt to use in addition to your usual moisturizer- in a very short period there's been a definite improvement in texture & appearance of my skin. Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate is available from Kiehl's Wicklow St & Dundrum Towncentre.
5. McCafe Macarons
I'll round up with a simple goodie...now it's no great secret that I have a macaron habit and would usually get my fix while taking a detour down Grafton St via the Ladurée counter at Brown Thomas BUT did anyone know that McDonalds McCafe do what's possibly the best chocolate macaron...no seriously, it's unreal! As mentioned I'm posting from San Sebastian just now so it wasn't an Irish McCafe but I'll definitely be checking this out once I'm home...yum!
