The Holiday / Christmas collections are officially upon us. I was able to get my paws onto some bits from the MAC Holiday collection early this year as my lovely husband brought them back for me from San Francisco. Not only early but a good bit cheaper as well!
I will dive straight in as there is a few pieces to talk about. The Stroke of Midnight Eye Bag in comes in several different colours, I went for the nude one but other gorgeous options are Gold and Violet. The set comes with a decent sized makeup bag, an In Extreme Dimension Lash mascara, Fluidline (which is a gel liner) in Past Twilight, Pro Longwear Paint Pot (cream eyeshadow) in Utterly Becoming and the Double-Ended Eye Liner/E Eye Shader Brush.
I really like the mascara, despite the quite big and plastic wand it coats the lashes really well, does not clam them and most importantly, it doesn't smudge. The mascara is also easy to take off which is important to me as I hate rubbing at my eyes. It is very black in colour (I know it sounds silly but some mascaras come out greyish) and leaves your lashes nice and soft, so you won't have to fear that your lashes will crumble or break off in the middle of the day ; )
Next up in the bag is a Paint Pot in Utterly Becoming which is a gorgeous matte creamy, pinky beige colour. It works well on me as I am fairly pale and leaves my lids nice and even in colour, a great product if you don't feel like wearing lots of makeup but still want to cover up redness or darkness on your lids. It lasts all day without creasing and will also be a fantastic base for any other eye makeup.
The next product in the bag is a gel liner Fluidline in Past Twilight which is a blackened plum colour, absolutely gorgeous for when you would like a softer liner than black. I have been using MACs Fluidline for years, it is one of my favourite gel liners - lasts beautifully and is easy to take off.The last product in this set is a double ended liner and shading brush. I usually hate brushes that come with pallets or sets but this one is pretty good! The liner brush is MACs regular 209 liner brush, which I love and use all the time and the shading brush end is a 239SE brush, slightly more fluffy than the regular 239 but probably more useful on the go. I will keep this brush in my makeup bag as it will probably come in handy for the silly season and all the parties I plan on attending : )
In the USA this set was $39.90 which is amazing value considering all the products included but no doubt in Ireland the price will be higher. The collection is due to appear on counters very soon. There is lots of gorgeous pieces to choose from and they will all make lovely Christmas gifts for beauty lovers.
Stop by and have a look next time you are at a MAC counter! I think once the collection hits the Irish counters I might treat myself to some lip goodies, they look gorgeous too!
