I have a mild obsession with sun protection in my moisturizer. I know, you do need sun and vitamin D but I firmly believe you should be protecting your face, neck and backs of your hands form the sun at all times. At this stage it is widely known that UVA and UVB rays contribute to premature aging of the skin and obviously this is absolutely not desirable! I also have the added problem on pigmentation on my cheeks (a lovely souvenir from my acne times). It took me a long time (and money - serums are expensive) to minimize the dark spots and I never risk going outside with some kind of sun protection on my skin.
I am always trying new creams and lotions with SPF and over the years I have used some very good ones and some that did not agree with my skin at all, made it greasy and broke me out (unfortunately, this often happens with SPF due to the titanium dioxide in the cream).
I recently have started using the Photo Plasma moisturizer by Perricone MD* - a very light weight, non-greasy cream that offers broad spectrum SPF 30. The consistency of the cream reminds me of a lightly whipped mousse, a very pleasant texture that feels very light on the skin (again, something that I would not say about a lot of SPF moisturizers). The cream protects against the 10 most common skin aggressors: sun exposure, dehydration, pollution, harsh wind, excessive heat, extreme cold, heavy metals, smoke, stress and chemical irritants. It also contains Vitamin C Ester and Alpha Lipoic Acid to help brighten the skin and smooth surface imperfections. The main thing that really won me over is that it gives you really heavy duty protection without any tackiness or grease on the skin. At the moment it is my moisturizer of choice and I cannot recommend it enough! If you are in the market for a very high quality day moisturizer definitely have a look at this one!
You can buy Photo Plasma by Perricone MD through the Perricone MD website and on the ground Perricone MD is stocked in Space NK. At £54 it is pricey, but it is worth the money. You don't need to use a lot and it's also only a day cream so it lasts for a long time.
Have you tried any great moisturizers with SPF lately?
