A Weekend in Nice

Beautiful views of Nice from Castle Hill

Desperately in need of a little break, we booked some flights for a few days break in Nice and it was nothing short of stunning. We’re pretty well-traveled, so on arriving at the beautiful Cote d’Azur I find it hard to believe we’ve missed out on this gem until now. Staying next to the flower markets by the old town was beautiful, and within a few minutes’ walk there’s a great shopping district if a little retail therapy is your thing.

Locals appreciated our efforts at awful French, but as I drank their wine bars dry each night I reckon my accent improved (or maybe not!). Heads were cleared with Sunday morning climb up Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill) and rested at the top to take in one of the most stunning views. We made our way toward Monte Carlo for a day to eye-up the most ridiculously flash cars and hit up the Ladurée counter hard. Then it was onto Cannes for dinner on our last evening, where the loveliest of surprises awaited me…!

So many gorgeous French soaps!

It really was the loveliest of trips, the icing on the cake of course being our engagement and surprise detour to Antwerp’s diamond district. After choosing my stone and setting, they were able to resize and set the ring in time for our flight back home the next evening, impressive.

Without doubt we’ll be back to the Cote d’Azur (and Antwerp), I’m looking forward to exploring the little towns dotted along the coastline and all the beautiful beaches they have to offer.
