With just over three weeks until my wedding (*stomach flip) I’m undergoing bridal bootcamp with my nightly skincare routine and it’s working wonders. Blemishes and breakouts have been minimal and there’s some definite brightening action going on- thank you AHA’s! Having tried so many combinations of products over the years I've a lot of favourite skincare products and tend to mix it up quite a bit. I have possibly my best yet skincare routine with my current picks and one I know will see me through to the Big Day with a clear complexion. My bridal skincare line-up is looking a little like this:
Always a fan of decent cleansing oil I love the pump action nozzle on this L’Occitane Immortelle Oil Makeup Remover, which lifts everything from gel liner to lashes in no time, all the while nourishing the skin with essential oils. Also boasting anti-aging properties I find this is one of the few oils that leave skin squeaky clean- great news for my white pillow cases! Priced at €26 for 200mls, a little goes a long way so the bottle really lasts.
Radical Age Defying Exfoliating Pads are a skincare secret weapon if ever there was one. Admittedly the cause tingling that’s a little on the strong side with my skin but safe in the knowledge that it’s the AHA & BHA fruit extracts doing their thing, I’m fine with it. Priced around the €65 they earn their keep slogging away dull dead skin cells and promoting new cell turnover, perfect for perfecting skin in the run up to the Big Day.
Caroline Hirons favourite La Roche Posay Serozinc is next up which I apply in the place of a toner. A nourishing zinc sulphate solution that calms and smoothes the skin, its understandable the hype around this cult spritzer finally becoming available in Ireland! I was slow to believe the hype and now cannot preach about it enough having used it for a number of months. At a mere €8.00 I'd highly recommend- you can get the full low-down here.
Boots Botanics Radiance Concentrated Serum is a relatively recent find. You can read about my love affair with Botanics brightening serum here, and for once it’s in the budget beauty category- I’m generally cursed with expensive taste when it comes to skincare. AHA’s are the magic ingredient that do all the brightening work, but be militant with your SPF as they do increase the skins sensitivity to sunlight. Currently down to €7.50 from €14.99, I'm planning on stocking up!
Radical Ultra Repair Moisturizer is hands down my favourite moisturiser right now- maybe even ever (big statement I know, but I’m obsessed!) I’ve slightly dry skin and so love anything with a nourishing element. I find it’s very rare to get such a rich formula that leaves zero greasy residue but instead an instant softness that I cannot get enough of! Yes it is eye wateringly expensive at €140 but it’s a genuine miracle worker for nourished healthy looking skin after just a few days of use.
Lancôme Advanced Genifique Light-Pearl Eye Illuminator is my last step in taking care of the delicate skin around the eye area. I’m funny with eye creams, serums and gels as in it’s a rare occasion that I find one I fall in love with. Lancôme Advanced Genifique Eye Illuminator however is something special on the eye front. I find it freshens and ‘plumps’ the under eye area to give the illusion of eight hours sleep when the reality for me is more like five at the moment! At € 55 I do believe eye products like this are worth the investment, as this area is one of the first to show signs of ageing.
I allow an extra few minutes before bed to apply all of the above in that order and have noticed a definite improvement in my skin. I’m also a big advocate of sunscreen on the face regardless of weather, and love Soap & Glory Sunshield Superfluid SPF50+ for an added extra little glowy base beneath my foundation. I find regularly working our sweats out toxins and always makes a difference to the condition of my skin along with guzzling water at any opportunity throughout the day. Now fingers and toes crossed breakouts remain at bay for the Big Day!
