The Essential Winter Lookbook

It may be freezing cold and dark out pretty much all of the time right now, but with Dublin looking awfully pretty in all its sparkly Christmas light glory, it’s safe to say we’re getting in to the full swing of sill season and we’re all about the festivities! Cold weather styling always wins out over summertime vibes in our book, there’s just so many more options when it comes to layering, outerwear and our favourite soft knits (pom pom beanie anyone?!) With a season full of friends, family and socialising kicking off, here’s a little winter lookbook style inspiration for the few weeks ahead….

Look 1 | The Art of Unflustered Gifting

Winter Outfit Idea 1

Love it or loathe it, gift prep is a necessary evil around this time of year. It should in theory really be an enjoyable experience, soaking up the atmosphere and lights (hot chocolate in hand always in our case). What doesn’t help is when time is short, crowds are everywhere and stress levels are at an all-time high as you pop from freezing cold winds and rain into overheated shops. Rule number one here is to layer!

Seriously, you’ll be glad of the ability to drop a few degrees while elbowing your way through the novelty sock department (you are welcome Dad!). Topshop Jamie Jeans paired up with this H&M Striped Shirt layered beneath a biker jacket is the ideal Christmas shopping combo.

Secondly, it’s all about footwear. Ditch the heels, ballet pumps and anything fiddly in favour of pure comfort. Luckily for your overworked feet, sports luxe is where it’s at right now, so those stylish black Nike Roshe trainers are due an outing when it comes to Christmas elf duty.

Finally, pack a strong lippy like Charlotte Tilbury in Glastonbury and some details with this beautiful Uno de 50 Gold Ring and silver bracelets. In our experience as retail enthusiasts, Christmas shopping trips often have a tendency to turn into post-Christmas shopping drinks, and nothing adds a little glam as effortlessly as a quick vampy lip refresh.

Look 2 | Afterwork Christmas Cocktails

Winter Outfit Idea 2

The lovely thing about this time of year is everyone’s enthusiasm for getting into the spirit of things. Once December hits, we’re always up for swapping a spin class for some after-work mulled wine or a Christmas cocktail nightcap; orange and cardamom martini anyone?! Often unplanned (as the best nights always are) it doesn’t hurt to be a little prepared for impromptu Christmas get-togethers. This Zara Lace Top works well under a blazer and can be easily swapped out for a more glam alternative like this H&M Faux Fur Jacket teamed up with Zara Leather Trousers. Spare ‘just in case’ heels or even better edgy ankle booties like these fringed beauties from Zara are great to keep under your desk for times like these and accessorising usual work wear with some metal detail like these Uno de 50 bracelet and earrings makes all the difference. Finally the vampy lip trick applies here also, and YSL have some beauties to choose from, desktop to dance floor easy as that!

Look 3 | Family Festive Dinner

Winter Outfit Idea 3

Family dinners have to be the best part of the whole Christmas season, what could be better than enjoying the filling up on festive deliciousness with your nearest and dearest before the arguments over monopoly begin! As tempting as it is to just go all out cosy, there’s something lovely about adding a little festive glam for the occasion. Some gold details teamed up with embellished fabrics like this H&M Light Knit Jumper with River Island Sequin Skirt, Zara Grey Ankle Boots are the perfect combination of cosy glam. A soft Grey Scarf like the one above from Zara paired up with layering these gorgeous gold necklaces and stud earrings from UNO de 50 gifts for women, add the perfect festive accessories combo with Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow for a little something special in the highlighting and contouring department; it is Christmas after all!
