I not really one to collect crystals and gemstones for their said healing properties, but I am a little bit in love with their use in quirky delicate jewellery right now. There’s something lovely and Boho about the tone of natural gemstone set against a delicate precious metal. I'm very drawn toward the soft pink of rose quartz and the periwinkle blueish lilac of tanzanite for some reason.
For your inner hippy some context; rose quartz is said to be a stone for love, and apparently resonates strongly with the heart chakra. Traditionally this stone would have been worn to stimulate love and heal personal relationships. Tanzanite is believed to increase fertility and inner strength. In both I love a raw and unpolished stone, with a more opaque finish that sits beautifully against gold in particular.
Etsy is my one stop shop for delicate, quirky and hand-crafted jewelry. It can be somewhat of a rabbit hole in that once I start looking, I generally find ten more pieces to add to my wishlist. Alison Titus Jewellery is one of my favorite Etsy stores for the most gorgeous rose cut, diamond slice & raw stone jewelry.
Based in Washington, Alison uses gorgeous unpolished raw stones with really fine delicate claw settings and bands to create Boho style pieces with a minimalist twist. Her pieces also allow you to get a slice of diamond for as low as $110, lovely for a special occasion momento (what bridesmaid would say no to a little slice of diamond?!). There’ are also some larger diamond slice rings which make lovely alternative style engagement rings.
I fell in love with the gold band raw tanzanite stacking ring with silver prongs. So delicate that it makes a great stacking ring when combined with other similarly slim bands (my wedding band is only 2mm thick, I’m a big fan of a delicate band). The opaque periwinkle blueish lilac on the tanzanite stone has to be my favorite colour, I plan on painting half the walls of my house this shade once we get it! I also got these beautiful unpolished rose quartz studs, I love how a feature has been made of the silver prongs that secure the raw stone on these and how wearable they are. Have you any Etsy favourite stores for delicate alternative jewellery?
