We recently got to preview Penneys Autumn Winter collections and although always exciting and lovely, this collection has to be a standalone favourite.Read More
This winter I have definitely developed a uniform that I rarely changed. It ALWAYS consisted of my black skinny jeans, some form of slouchy knitted jumper, my Nike Roche Runs, a Zara long oversized grey coat and a black woolly hat. Except for PJ's and workout clothes this is pretty much all I wore.
I realise I am in a bit of a wardrobe rut and need to branch out. Luckily it's getting a tiny bit warmer so at least I have a bit of a pretext to go shopping and pick up something new.
I have already kicked off the process and picked up a pair of the most gorgeous (and comfy) Adidas Stan Smiths with a bit of pink detail in the back. I love those shoes and they will definitely be a staple in my spring wardrobe.
I am also developing a love (along with everyone else!) for the bomber jacket - the one in the picture was kindly lent to me by my friend Aoife (aka The Alpha Nail). She picked this one up from Penneys but they were sold out within a couple of days so I will have to go looking somewhere else for mine.
I doubt I will ever completely ditch my favourite black Topshop Jamie Jeans but that bit of colour in the jacket and shoes is definitely a huge step forward for my ultra-monochrome wardrobe!

It is no secret that I am a fan of all things monochrome. But when it comes to sportswear I let my hair down a little bit and delve into some colour. My favourite go to outfit of the moment are my Gymshark leggings (seriously, the best leggings I have ever owned!), pink tie-dye sports bra and bright orange workout vest.
As much as I love sportswear to look cute and fun, if it's not comfortable, it's a total no-go. The Gymshark pieces are extrelemy pleasant to wear and great quality. No sea-through bottoms here! I've tried the leggings in the most contorted yoga positions and maintained a full degree of dignity (we all know what happens to stretched cheap leggings...unfortunately!).
If you are in the market for new workout gear Gymshark are a brand to definitely check out whether you are looking for colour block or monochrome pieces - there's something there for everybody!

Trends... something that I am never quite sure of. I don't consider myself particularly trendy - my first priority in everything is comfort, so that excludes a multitude of really fashionable things from my repertoire. Some trends I've absolutely loved through! I bought a fuzzy coat a la Gwen Stefani, lots of crop tops and I am really keen on some of those bomber jackets that are around right now. But these three are just some I will definitely be giving a miss...
One: Brown Lipstick
This is a funny one. I've seen brown lippy look amazing on some girls but it's just something that does not work on me at all. I don't know if it's my skin tone but I looked horrendous (HORRENDOUS!) every time I tried! I could possibly pull of a browny shade of burgundy but that's about it! *Sighs*
It is in everything! To be fair, I really, really tried to like it but no, I just can't get on board with the coriander thing. It makes everything taste of vile soap. I am not a fussy eater by any means (raw beef, fermented cabbage.. no bother!) and I will try everything at least once. I think I have given coriander its chance, it just won't be happening between us.
Three: Coffin Shaped Nails
Now this is one that I really don't get. Coffin shaped anything is definitely not my thing! To be completely honest I just don't like long nails full stop - it all comes back to the main criterion, comfort! With nails like these I don't think I would be able to function - how do you even open and close your jeans? There must be some serious skills involved!
Are there any trends you can't get your head around?

The recent H&M Studio SS16 collection really resonated with me! I love the explorer chic vibes - traveling is my favourite thing to do and in spring and summer I love channeling my inner adventure seeker. It's hard for me to pick one favourite piece because, honestly, I love nearly every single one!
“H&M Studio for spring/summer 2016 is an adventure in style. Our girl is always exploring, whether she’s on the city streets or on the trip of a lifetime. She mixes function with femininity, sportswear with pieces for a party, and whatever she wears she always looks effortless,” says Pernilla Wohlfarth, H&M’s head of design.
The colourful tunic dress (€79.99) is definitely on my shopping list and so is that nifty little blanket / scarf carrier (€29.99)! There is also a great range of swimwear in the collection... ok who am I kidding? I want it all!
Which piece is your favourite?

It’s still Summer- just. Meaning our minds are firmly on the beauty that is Autumn dressing. I remain firmly on team Autumn when it comes to seasonal favorite’s, we almost always get our best weather in Autumn, I get to celebrate my Birthday (I’ve the excitement of a seven year old when it comes to my birthday) and AW lines roll out along the high-street, which if we’re completely honest are always the best collections.
I don’t even harbour any bitterness about our non-summer come this time of year. Once I catch of glimpse of brown tall leather boots and knit capes in stores, I’m over summer. Boohoo have featured on our radar the past few seasons, and with an AW15 collection full of gorgeous layered silhouettes, softer than expected palettes and what’s likely to be the last of the denim trend, it makes for some perfect seasonal wardrobe updates at this time of year. Here’s a few lookbook favourites…

I have been obsessed with Darling Magazine for quite some time now and I was so excited to find out that I can get it shipped to my home here in Ireland through this amazing new site called KIOZQ. KIOZQ is an Irish site that supports independently published magazines and aims to preserve printed media. The people behind KIOZQ are passionate about content and stock some fabulous collectible coffee table magazines such as Betty, Kinfolk, Life & Thyme and of course Darling.
Darling is not just any old magazine you throw in the bin after you are done. It is quite an aspirational piece of art with breathtaking photography and excellently written content. Their mission is (in their own words) to "hold the modern mold of woman up to the fire to evoke a discussion on femininity and re-shape an authentic design. Darling is... the art of being a woman".
I love Darling magazine for exactly that: it's authentic, thought-provoking and inspiring. The photography throughout the entire magazine is absolutely beautiful and makes me want to look at it over and over again. It covers everything from fashion, beauty to cooking and travel. On a more shallow note, it looks great and makes a great fabulous to my coffee table!
Darling magazine, like most magazines of this type, is not cheap - it will set you back €25 per issue. It is however a collectible, more along the lines of a fancy coffee table book rather than a glossy magazine that you only ever flick through once. Don't get me wrong, I sill very much enjoy Vogue, Elle or Glamour magazine but every now and then it's nice to read something that challenges me and broadens my horizons.
You can buy Darling magazine through KIOZQ and get it delivered for free if you live on the island of Ireland.
Have you ever read Darling? What is your favourite indie magazine?

Just as it becomes warm enough to leave the house without a coat, hat and thermal undies, we're looking onto whats next to hit the highstreet. In all honesty I'm nowhere close to done with the whole four days of summer weather we've had to date, and looking forward to many more flip-flop worthy days ahead. That said Autumn is hands down the best new season for highstreet collections. Take a peek at what Penneys have on the way and I dare you not to get excited!
