MAC is one of the few brands that still excites me with nearly every one of their launches, and the latest one is no exception.Read More
I think we can all agree that when it comes to lipsticks the people at MAC are absolute rock stars! Between the gazillion shades and formulations, there is something there for everyone. Honestly, I didn't think that there could be anything in the world of MAC lipsticks that would wow me more than what's already on offer, but the new collection... WOW!Read More
I would be lying if I said that I am not excited at the prospect of Autumn. In my head, when I say Autumn, I mean the golden light, crunching leaves and sunny days, not the constant barrage of rain & wind that is more what I can expect in reality.Read More
I'm a huge fan of a statement lip any time of year but my favourite way is to wear it is really casually - with a T-shirt or cool coat & scarf. There is just something super chic and effortless about it...
I absolutely love my reds but for some time now I have been gravitating to a deep & dark berry lip, especially during the colder months. One of my all time favourites is MAC's Rebel. It's a beautiful plum colour that can be layered on quite heavily or what I like to do is to dab on a light layer and smudge out the lip line for a super soft & casual look.
My new lipstick love however is a lipstick I recently picked up from Top Shop. It comes in beautifier gold & white packaging (they really had me at gold...) and the shade is called Beguiled. It's also a deep berry shade with a slightly redder undertone than Rebel. The formula is similar to Rebel, I would call it a moisturising matte. It lasts for a long time and feels very comfortable on the lips.
I definitely want to try out a few more Top Shop lipsticks, I have my eye on the shades Wicked & Inhibition.

Lipsticks have been back in fashion for a while now and recently we've seen so many brilliant new formulations like stains, balms and liquids. This summer MAC have brought back a limited edition of the Huggable Lip Colours in 10 absolutely gorgeous shades. If you are getting married this summer I highly recommend you check out this range as these babies are the perfect wedding lipsticks!
The Huggable Lip Colours* have a comforting, creamy and moisturising feel to them with amazing shine that isn't sticky. They are also long-wearing which is always great but particularly important if you're using it on you wedding day.
The formulation is truly something between lipstick, balm and stain. It's not quite as lightweight as a balm but definitely doesn't have the feel of a full on lipstick either. I am really impressed with the colour pay-off of the three shades I have tried - you can make it quite sheer or build it up to quite an opaque coverage. I will definitely be buying a few more shades before they are gone!
The shades I have are I'm Game (a gorgeous dark pink raspberry colour), Soft Talkin' (a warm peachy nude) and, my favourite, Love Feeling (a vibrant orange - I always want to describe this colour as a pastel neon).
The MAC Huggable Lip Colours are amazing for every day and definitely one of our top picks for perfect lips on your special day!

Now that we are in the new year I am getting into the mood for bright colours. With the Christmas lights gone and the days still dark and dreary a juicy pink or red lipstick has the magical power to lift my spirits like nothing else. It helps that this one is a massive bargain!
I love KIKO as a brand - the quality of the products is amazing and the prices affordable. I picked up a few bits during my last trip to London (you can get shipping to Ireland from their website as well though) and the product that stood out to me most was this beautiful Unlimited Stylo Lipstick in the shade 06 Poppy Red, a gorgeous & fresh bright red.
The texture and consistency of this lipstick is a dream - it is smooth and creamy but sets to a semi-matte / satin finish and does not budge! I had this on during dinner recently and fully expected it to be gone by the time I was finished eating... but no, there it was, still perfectly intact at the end of the night! It is truly long-lasting, in fact, you have to give it a good cleanse to take it off (nothing a bit of Bioderma or cleansing oil can't handle). I also love the shape and size of the bullet, it's easy enough to apply even without a lip brush.
The Unlimited Stylo Lipsticks are €5.80 which is just insane for the fabulous quality you get! If you are in the market for a gorgeous long-lasting lippy, definitely check these out! I will be picking up more colours for sure!
What are your favourite long-lasting lipsticks?
This new launch from Maybelline hit the store shelves about a week ago. Having heard rumours from across the Atlantic about the Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils being a dupe for the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils (which are AMAZING, but expensive), I was extremely eager to get my hands on the new highstreet offering!
And fortunately for me, I was not dissapointed! The Nars pencils still feel slightly more luxurious and creamy but that is what you would expect for the hefty price tag. The Maybelline option is a fabulous one if you're on a budget - the pencils are highly pigmented, creamy and easy to apply. They are matte but not drying and quite comfortable to wear. They do not stain the lips as well as their Nars counterparts but last quite well and fade evenly. I find that if I put on a rough layer and buff it into my lips with my finger and then apply a second layer, the colour lasts pretty much all day with minimal touch ups.
I picked up three colours and quite autumnal ones at that! First up is the brightest of the three: Light it up, a gorgeous bright red. I love this shade, its one of those that will suit most skin tones.
Next up, my favourite of the bunch: Berry Much. This one is a rich, intense plum / berry shade and I feel I will get a lot of wear out of it this season. It can be worn quite boldly or just lightly patted into the lips for a subtle berry stain. I'm a huge fan of the 'I've-just-been-eating-berries' kinda look!
Finally, my third pick: Red Essential. As the name says, it's a classic red that everyone should have in their collection. It's a good bit darker than Light it up and has a slight cherry tint. It's absolutely beautiful! I love wearing reds like these quite casually, with some jeans and a wooly jumper or simple t-shirt.
There are 10 shades in total in this collection, they are priced at €6.79 and are a fabulous, affordable option if you love your matte lip colours!
Huge thumbs up from me!
Have you tried any of these? Which shade is your favourite?

I am a big lipstick wearer and cannot resist adding new ones to my already extensive (my husband calls it ridiculous, but what does he know about lipstick?) collection. The newest addition is a MAC bestseller, Girl About Town.
Girl About Town is a beautiful medium fuchsia colour with cool undertones. It isn't as bright a lipstick as it comes out on camera and definitely one I wear during daytime as well as night. It's one of MACs Amplified finish and is a lovely creamy, longlasting and opaque formula with a lot of colour payoff. In fact, the pigment is so strong that it stains my lips (in which case I am left with a nice raspberry tint when I take it off). On me this lipstick dries to a satin / semi-matte finish but feels very comfortable and easy to wear.
I love this lipsticks and it is one that suits most skin tones. Definitely worth investing in but if you are looking for a more budget friendly option, Wet N Wild's Smokin' Hot Pink (905D) is very similar!
MAC Girl About Town is £15.50 / €17.50 and available in all MAC Stores.

The Rouge Edition Velvet* liquid lipsticks are one of the new launches from Bourjois. You may know that Bourjois is one of my all time favourite brands and are definitely the best (in my humble opinion) highstreet brand. They just keep coming out with one great product after another! It's impossible for me to express how much love I have for these new lip products... I will try though!
The Rouge Edition Velvet are liquid lipsticks that apply quite glossy and dry to a velvet matte finish. They are incredibly comfortable on the lips, I wore them for hours and hours and they don't feel drying at all. I think this is the most comfortable matte lip product that I have ever used. It is also incredibly long lasting - it doesn't budge even when you're eating and drinking. In fact, the staying power is so good that at the end of the day I had to use an oil based cleanser to get the stain off my lips.
I also really like the applicator, it's reasonably small which makes application quite easy. I love that, if you use the product sparingly, you get quite a soft lip line and there is no need to fiddle around with lip liners or brushes. You can use it in a few different ways and get lovely effects when you smudge it in with your fingers to soften the bright colours. I have 3 of the 6 shades and will definitely be picking up the other ones soonl, the formulation of these products is something I have never come across before. If you are a fan of matte lip products you will be a fan. If you are scared of matte formulations these are a great way of easing yourself into the matte experience without having to fear dry & flaky lips.
Rouge Edition Velvet 04 Peach Club (looks very neon in the photo but is in fact an intense peachy pink colour)
Rouge Edition Velvet 05 Olé Flamingo! (a beautiful intense blue toned pink)
Rouge Edition Velvet 01 Personne ne rouge! (my favourite - a beautiful poppy red)
The Rouge Edition Velvet is be available in Boots for €12 I highly recommend you check these out!

This week's Best of Beauty Post (a series created by lovely Samantha from All The Buzz) is a challenge. I was making a list of products during the week and I came up with about 25 of them! In order to save you having to read a novel on my favourites, I narrowed it down after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. There's still a lot, but these ones are the ones I just couldn't live without! So without further ado, as per usual, starting from the left, here are my Make-up Must-Haves!
Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base This is one of the best and most hard working products I came across in the make-up industry, at least so far! There is one in my make-up stash and one in my professional kit at all times! I have oily eyelids and most eye products crease on me. The fact that my eyelids are slightly hooded only makes matters worse and things like gel eyeliner end up on my crease unless I use the Nars Pro Prime. My eye make-up just does not move with this on! I've worn this from morning until night time and everything stays just as I applied it in the morning. I have tried a fair share of eye primers (including Urban Decay, 2Faced, etc.) and they were OK but this one is hands down the best. I cannot stress enough how amazing this product is! If you have oily eyelids & have not tried this product you have to run to the nearest Nars counter now! Drop everything and run!
Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyesheadow Base approx. €25 from Nars (Brown Thomas)
MAC Eye Shadows I have a lot of eye shadows but these four are the ones I use most often & couldn't be without. I'm not going to bang on about MAC eyeshadows as I am sure everyone and their dog has heard of these and tried them. But what I will do is quickly tell you about my absolute favourite shades that I have re-purchased time and time again: Burle, All That Glitters, Satin Taupe & Carbon. I love this little palette, you can do so much with these colours, from natural to smokey & dramatic. The perfect colours for us green eyed gals as well!
MAC Eye Shadows (re-fills) €11.50 from MAC
Make Up Forever Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Colour in Warm Beige This is basically a waterproof cream eye shadow in the most gorgeous pale golden colour. And when I say waterproof I mean this stuff doesn't move! It will not go anywhere until you dissolve it off your face with an oily cleanser. If I have a long day ahead of me this is what I will use as a base a lot of the time. The only thing I will say is you need to work very quickly with this product, it sets in seconds and once it does it's game over, there's no budging it. It's not the cheapest of products but a little goes a long way & it is definitely worth investing in! Couldn't be without it.
Make Up Forever Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Colour in Warm Beige approx. €22 from MUFE Claredon St, Dublin
MAC Lipsticks Again, I'm sure you have all heard of these guys but just wanted to share two of the colours that I wear all the time. I have re-purchased both of these several times, they just are shades that look particularly flattering on me and I can't imagine my makeup bag without them: MACs Rebel and Lady Danger. Rebel looks quite scary in the bullet but is the most gorgeous purple berry colour (photo of me wearing it here). Lady Danger, my favourite red of all times, is a really warm orange red. It looks amazing on everybody, I particularly love it on blonds! I find it makes me look more tanned when I'm wearing it and it really brightens up my face. I just love both of these! You may have noticed, I am not a lipgloss kind of girl...
MAC Lipsticks in Rebel and Lady Danger €17.50 from MAC
Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara I am extremely fussy when it comes to mascara! Shock, horror, I didn't get on with Benefit's They're Real and I hated Maybelline's The Falsies... I have blogged about Hypnose Start before (here) so will not go into too much detail but it is just the perfect mascara for me: deep black in colour, nice wand, gives a lot of volume, holds a curl and is easy to take off! I try out new mascara all the time and this is the only one I have re-purchased time and time again!
Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara €25.92 from Boots.ie
Make-up Forever HD Foundation Again, a product I have written about before... This is my favourite foundation for when I need a flawless but invisible coverage! It looks absolutely gorgeous in photos and on video and doesn't have this cakey, powdery finish that I hate. I am a foundation fetishist, have lots in just my own makeup bag but if I had to use only one for the rest of my life this would be my man (or woman... not sure).
Make-up Forever HD Foundation approx. €40 from MUFE Claredon St, Dublin
Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream This is a new one but already one of my top products! Technically also a foundation (I know, I know.... I have issues) but one I use for every day, natural make-up. Bourjois is my favourite highstreet brand ever and their foundations are absolutely fantastic. This beauty will star is a post of it's own on the blog shortly, so keep your eyes peeled for a more detailed review. All I can say is that this is very easy to apply, has good coverage, a nice luminous but satin finish and stays on well! And it is affordable! BIG love for this product!
Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream approx. €10 from Boots.ie
Chanel Soleil de Tan Bronze Universel This is a love/hate product for many but for me, and Becky too, it is the best bronzing base. Becky is slightly darker skinned than I am so this products is absolutely perfect for her and she goes through these like nobody's business! I need to use it more sparingly and work with it a little more, but it's worth it! I know it doesn't work on very pale people and I hope Chanel will one day bring out more colours. But this is basically the product that brings a little bit of life and dimension to my face and gives me the most wonderful healthy glow! It's unfortunately an expensive one but for me, worth every penny (lasts for ages though!)
Chanel Soleil de Tan Bronze Universel €38.50 from Boots.ie
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer This is probably going to appear in a few Best of Beauty posts but it really is that good! You can read a full review with pictures here. Nars have managed to produce a gorgeous concealer that has amazing coverage without being cakey. It's luminous without being sparkly or highlighting. I just cannot say enough good things about it, I am not even curious to try any other concealers any more. I found the one!
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer €26 from Nars (Brown Thomas)
MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy My sister in law introduced me to this baby and it's now an absolute staple in my makeup collection! I don't wear black eyeliner a lot as I don't have huge eyes and I find that a black liner can make my eyes look even smaller. Teddy is a gorgeous, slightly shimmery bronze colour. It's very creamy and easy to blend. I use it for my every day makeup all the time. I know it's only an eye liner but I can't imagine my makeup bag without it!
MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy €18 from MAC
Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink When people see this in the pan they usually shriek and try to run. It looks pretty scary and you could say there is absolutely nothing pale about this shade of pink. That being said this is my all time favourite blush. It's one that can make you look healthy, glowy, awake & about 10 years younger when deep down you are dying of a hangover or a cold! It is the blush I wore on my wedding day and I love, love, love it! Try it next time you are at a Bobbi Brown counter!
Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink approx. €25 form Bobbi Brown
Finally! We've arrived at the end of this monster of a post! I'm sorry I have put you through this ridiculous amount of products but there is about 20 other ones on my desk that didn't make it into the post, it was so hard to choose! As always, check out all the other Irish Beauty Blogger's "Best of Beauty" posts on twitter under the hashtag #BOBBlogChallenge.
