New In: Caudalie Vinosource

New In: Caudalie Vinosource | Pink Elephant Blog

I've used Caudalie products long before they were available on these shores. I was always that person traveling with bottles and bottles of French Pharmacie products in my suitcase whenever I went to a country that sold them.

Now that we finally can get all that beautiful skincare in Ireland and trying more things from the brand doesn't involve international air travel I am delighted to say that I am expanding my Caudalie horizons.

The Vinosource range* is the core of Caudalie as a brand, after all what they are all about are beautiful natural cosmetics created from vine and grape extracts from the vineyards of Bordeaux, Champagne and Burgundy.

There's four beautiful moisturising creams in the range, each one designed to target a specific concern.

The Vinosource range is the core of Caudalie as a brand, after all what they are all about are beautiful natural cosmetics created from vine and grape extracts from the vineyards of Bordeaux, Champagne and Burgundy.

There's four beautiful moisturising creams in the range, each one designed to target a specific concern.

First up, one of my favourites, particularly now that the weather is getting a bit warmer - the Moisturising Matifying Fluid (€22.40). It's a gorgeous lightweight fluid that while matifying reactivates the skin’s hydration mechanisms and restores its water reserves. The skin is re-balanced and left feeling velvety without being dried out.

The Moisturising Sorbet (€22.40) is perfect for anyone with a sensitive skin. It has an immediate and long-lasting calming and soothing action. The anti-oxidant rich formula helps strengthen and nourish the skin from the inside out.

Next up we have the Moisture Recovery Cream (€22.40) that provides deep nourishment, perfect for those of us with drier skins. The velvety formula supplies dry skin with the exact dose of plant lipid nutrients required for the skin to feel nourished, soft and comfortable.

The last one is the Intense Moisture Rescue Cream (€22.40). It nourishes skin deeply, protects it from drying out and strengthens the skin barrier functions. With its rich texture, this cream is the perfect for very dry skin all year round or during harsh weather conditions (cold, windy, dry).

In the collection there's also a beautiful moisturising spritz - the Caudalie Grape Water (€6.40). It's a superfine mist that can be used to tone, refresh the skin or even set makeup. It smells divine and is definitely a summer essential that will be invaluable if you are going traveling!

Caudalie products are available in pharmacies nationwide and online through the Caudalie website.

New In: VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser

VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser

I admit, I have only recently become a  diffuser convert. I am quite picky (aka snobbish) when it comes to home scents as some of them can be quite harsh, chemical and smell nothing like what they are supposed to smell like, with pine scents being the absolute worst! My scented candle collection is therefore on the small side and I am always ecstatic when I manage to find a new home scent I love. This one from VOYA is not a candle but the first ever diffuser to make an appearance in my home.

It was love at first... sniff. It literally smells like a luxurious spa! The notes in it are a blend of lavender with the lighter notes of chamomile with an undertone of luscious rose wood. It is simply divine! It's that relaxing  and serene scent that we all associate with a visit to a luxurious spa for a pamper session.

I love the packaging of it too! VOYA is a brand that specialises in seaweed and the design of the bottle reminds me of the beach - it's evocative of beautiful sea glass and wood washed out on the beach. It would make an absolutely beautiful present and with Mothers Day just around the corner it is definitely one to check out.

The VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser costs €44 and is available in VOYA salons nationwide and on the VOYA website.

Have you got a favourite home scent?

New In: Evolve Organic Beauty

New In Skincare: Evolve Beauty

I've recently been introduced to a new brand, Evolve Organic Beauty. I fell in love! Everything about them, from the packaging, the ethos of the brand to their products, is beautiful! I have tried two products from Evolve so far and both have become staples that I will be buying again as soon as they run out.

Evolve is an artisan producer of organic and natural skin, body and hair products. Everything they create is hand-crafted in their studio in Hertfordshire, UK, using natural and organic oils, butters and natural superfoods. Their products are vegan and cruelty free (love that!) and made in small batches to ensure the highest quality and freshness.

New In Skincare: Evolve Beauty

The first product I tried was the Hyaluronic Serum 200. I am slightly obsessed with hyaluronic acid as a skincare ingredient, it's made the biggest difference in the quality of my skin - no more dry patches or wrinkles caused by dehydration! The Evolve Beauty serum is packed with goodness; apart from the hyaluronic acid it also contains pomegranate extract (helps regulate cell turnover) and is very delicately fragranced with damask rose water. This product is simply beautiful, there is nothing I don't love about it! My skin looks supple, hydrated and radiant... what more could I ask for?

Hyaluronic Sermum 200 (£28) is available from the Evolve Organic Beauty website

New In Skincare: Evolve Beauty

Next up is a body product. I admit, I am terribly lazy when it comes to body moisturisers, exfoliators, etc. Love the idea of them but then life takes over and the last thing I think of is to slather mosituriser all over myself when I collapse into bed at night. But (!!!) I found a way to fake perfect, glowing skin when I need to! That is not to say you shouldn't moisturise (you should!) but if you are anything like me, this is the product you need in your arsenal... Ladies, I give you the Satin Leg Gloss. It's specifically designed to make your skin that glossy high-shine finish that you associate with celebs and runway models. An added bonus: it's packed with fabulous moisturising oils like Organic Camellia Seed Oil, Bisabolol and Organic Castor oil that are great for your skin, make it look amazing but without making it greasy. I know it says Leg Glos... but I've put it on my arms & shoulders too!

Satin Leg Gloss (£20) is available from the Evolve Organic Beauty website

I am extremely impressed with Evolve and am dying to try more products! The best part - they are pretty affordable considering the high quality and beautiful ingredients! I have my eye on the Radiant Glow Mask next...

Have you ever tired any of the Evolve products?

Yogandha: Mood Boosting Aromatherapy

Yogandha: Mood Boosting Aromatherapy

I am a lover of aromatherapy oils and was so excited to hear that a new Irish brand called Yogandha has just launched their gorgeous body & mood boosting oils range in Harvey Nichols. The woman behind the brand is  the lovely yoga teacher Sinead Duffy who has created her line based on the ancient practice of Gandha (Sanskrit for fragrance) to enhance the mind-body state.

The oils are beautiful quality and feel very luxurious. There are two ranges in the line: Body & Bath Oils (Relax, Soothe, Detox) and Mood Boosting Roller Balls (Salute, Balance, Ground).

After a two day wedding and a few too many glasses of wine I have tried out the Detox bath oil on the weekend and absolutely loved it! The oil is a blend of refreshing lemongrass and cleansing juniper berry which helps to detox the body and enhances lymphatic drainage. My bath smelled amazing and I felt instantly refreshed and less sluggish.

Yogandha: Mood Boosting Aromatherapy

The Mood Boosting Roller Balls are something everyone should carry in their bag! They provide an instant pick-me-up on the go... Invaluable when you are busy and stressed - you can take a few minutes on your commute and to ground and centre yourself. My favourite of the roller balls is Ground, a blend of Sandalwood and Frankincense, perfect for popping onto your wrists before yoga practice or when you find your mind wandering. It really does a great job at centering your mind!

Yogandha: Mood Boosting Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy Oils can unfortunately be quite expensive, especially the good quality ones. The Yogandha range starts at €19.95 which is really good value for money. Yoandha products are available in Harvey Nichols, Avoca and are also launching soon in Lloyds Pharmacies.

There is something for everybody in this range and already know I will not be able to help myself and pick up a couple more of these!

Do you use aromatherapy in your pamper routine?

New In: L'Occitane Aromachology

L'Occitane AromachologyThis must be one of my favourite launches (if not THE favourite) when it comes to aromatherapy / bodycare this year! The packaging just screams vintage apothecary chic and what's inside is even better! The new line from L'Occitane is all about expertly blended essential oils designed to help you de-stress, unwind and... smell amazing!.

There are two groups of products in this range: the Relaxing Line and the Revitalizing Line. For someone who has trouble getting to sleep, like myself, the bedtime and bathtime rituals are a godsend! I particularly love the Relaxing Pillow Mist (€20) that I have been spraying every single night since I got it! The combination of Lavender, Sweet Orange, Rosemary and Bergamot oils is heavenly and truly does help me relax. The same goes for the Relaxing Massage Body Oil (€16.50) - it smells fantastic and feels gorgeous on the skin. If you love your pamper time and relaxing products this range is for you!

L'Occitane Aromachology

The next product I tried was from the Revitalizing Line and it was the fresh, citrus-scented Revitalizing Body Scrub (€27). It's a delicious concoction of sugar crystals, lemon zest and essential oils like lemon, rosemary, grapefruit, mint and orange. I kid you not, this stuff smells good enough to eat and I will admit that I was tempted to give it a go! I am not sure about the culinary value of the product (haven't quite braved it..) but I can vouch for the cosmetic one - the product is beautiful and leaves my skin feeling luscious and fresh. The scents are truly uplifting and perfect for an early morning shower!

I cannot rave enough about this beautiful range! Even if only for the amazing, retro packaging you must go into your nearby L'Occitane Boutique! And while you're there give everything a sniff, you will not regret it! The range launches in L'Occtitane Boutiques in August 2014.

I cannot wait to pick up the rest of the range, I have my eye on the bath salts and the revitalizing roll-on, which will come in handy as a pick-me-up during those long busy days I spend in the city.

Are you a fan of aromatherapy? If so, let me know your star product, I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Skin Saviour: Lush Tea Tree Water

Lush Tea Tree Water

I have finally picked up the Lush Tea Tree Water a few weeks ago!! I have been really looking forward to trying this and I was not disappointed. In fact I am now hooked and use it on a daily basis.

This toner, like all other Lush products, is made of natural ingredients and consists of a blend of Tea Tree Water, Grapefruit Water, Juniperberry Water. Tea tree is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, and it can help keep away bacteria that can cause skin congestion and breakouts. Grapefruit is rich in vitamins and also lightly astringent on the skin, whilst juniperberry is antiseptic and helps keep skin clear.

It is a lovely and gentle toner that will keep spots at bay without the use of alcohol and it won't turn your skin into a desert. You can use it on a cotton pad or, my preferred method, spritz it directly onto your face and then pat it in lightly with clean fingers (make sure you are spritzing from a distance, the pump is quite powerful!). My skin loves this and I can't be without it at this stage! I used to have quite a big problem with blocked pores and tiny spots around my chin and the toner has done a pretty awesome job at clearing these up! It's also really affordable considering the fantastic quality and huge size (it'll last you for ages).

I cannot say enough good things about this toner! I highly recommend you try it out! I will be picking up the moisturising Eau Roma toner as well.

Lush Tea Tree Water is £7.50 (less than €10) and available from all Lush stores.

What is your favourite Lush skincare? I'd love to hear your suggestions for what I should pick up next!

Cult Product: Pixi Glow Tonic

Pixi Glow Tonic

I ordered Pixi Glow Tonic as soon as it went on sale online. Until recently it was a product that only Londoners could easily get their hands on in the Pixi Boutique. If you are  a beauty buff you have probably heard about this product but if you haven't, here is the lowdown: it is a gentle, oil-free, alcohol-free exfoliating facial toner. It is rich in aloe vera and therefore doesn't irritate the skin. It also contains natural ingredients like ginseng, witch hazel, glycolic acid and horse chestnut to tone, firm, soften, exfoliate and stimulate circulation in the skin. What it doesn't contain is artificial colours, fragrances or fillers.

Pixi is a lovely, natural brand created 10 years ago by Petra Strand who prides herself on each of her products being multitasking, flaw-fixing, youth-enhancing and can be applied easily and quickly. Petra has a passion for skincare and generates products infused with botanicals and beneficial ingredients.

I have been using Pixi Glow Tonic twice a day, every day for the past two months and I have really been impressed with the results. I have combination - oily skin and get dry, flaky patches, especially around my chin and adding this toner to my daily skincare routine has helped a lot. I also found that the Glow Tonic has helped to minimize the dark spots I had on my cheeks, curtsey of some long gone acne. Before the Pixi Glow Tonic I used the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator but as it contains quite a lot of alcohol I didn't really want to use it every day. It is still a great product but one I use only two to three times a week now.

The Pixi Glow Tonic is a brilliant toner and is suitable for most skin types, maybe avoid it if your skin is sensitive. I cannot say enough good things about it and think that everyone should have some type of exfoliating toner in their skincare stash. It made a huge difference to my skin and I will definitely be re-purchasing it.

Pixi Glow Tonic £18 from or Pixi Boutiques in London

I cannot wait to try more products from Pixi. Have you tried any of their products? Let me know your recommendations, I would love to hear them!

DIY Spa Body Scrub

DIY Coffee Body ScrubI was chatting to my mum a couple of weeks ago, she was telling me about her spa trip & a fantastic body treatment she had while there. She went for this fancy tightening coffee bean body treatment and she enjoyed the body scrub used so much that she asked whether she could buy it at the spa. The therapist (fair play to her!) admitted it was only coffee grounds from the hotel kitchen! She explained that coffee has fantastic skincare properties, it contains powerful anti-oxidants that protect the skin against free radicals,  works as an anti-inflammatory, can reduce cellulite, tighten pores & reduce cellulite. Because of all these benefits, coffee is a common ingredient in skincare & spa products these days - I did my research!DIY Coffee Body Scrub So, ladies (and gents, why not??!) don't waste your coffee grounds, they're too full of goodness to just be chucked into the bin! Here are a few "recipes" for DIY coffee treatments:DIY Coffee Body Scrub

1. The 1 Ingredient Body Scrub For this all you will need is... you guessed it! Used coffee grounds! So brew your coffee (whichever way you like, ehm, just not instant : P), drink it, squeeze excess water out and use the warm coffee grounds to scrub the skin on your body. Make sure you concentrate on cellulite prone areas. Rinse off with warm water.

2. Moisturising Body Scrub Here, same as above, put your warm coffee grounds (around 1 - 2 cups, however much you need) into a bowl and mix in 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil. Massage into the skin & rinse off with warm water.

3. Super Exfoliating Body Scrub For this one mix your Moisturising Body Scrub in a bowl (as above) and add half a cup of sea salt or coarse demarera sugar. If you like you can add a drop of vanilla extract. Massage into the skin & rinse off with warm water.

I think all of the above would also be nice with a pinch of cinnamon or some essential oils added in... especially if you are not a huge fan of the smell of coffee!

The one thing I will say is that it is not the prettiest of body scrubs... actually it possibly is the worst looking one I've tried (brown is not a great colour for body care products) but definitely one of the most effective ones!DIY Coffee Body Scrub

I absolutely love the simplicity of this body scrub and have used it several times since I found out about it (my favourite is the coffee, olive oil & cinnamon combo). Thanks to my husband, who is a coffee junkie, I have a never ending supply!DIY Coffee Body ScrubLet me know if you have tried this & what you thought of it you have!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: Hot Cloth Cleanser

Liz Earle Cleanse & PolishAs much as I love all things make-up related, the removal part I've always found to be a chore. Generally I use an oil based cleanser that works well with my dryish skin, that is until I was treated to this baby for my birthday a few months back (girls are the best). Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: Hot Cloth Cleanser lifts everything from waterproof mascara to dead skin cells leaving baby-soft skin.

This one is a two step process, firstly you massage the cleanser straight onto the face and neck, softening & stimulating circulation (& breathe deep the gorgeous natural eucalyptus oil!) The next step is to rinse your muslin cloth with hot water, wring out and use to polish the cleanser off. Finally splash with cold water and you're squeeky clean face is ready for bed. I love that there are all natural active ingredients used, including rosemary, chamomile and cocoa butter and can honestly say it's left me with the softest skin I've had in a long time. Also I love that the cleanser comes in a really handy little waterproof case with two muslin cloths- perfect if you're on the move. Well worth getting your paws on this one!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: Hot Cloth Cleanser is available from Wilde & Green in Milltown and also
