New in Nails: Chanel, Revlon & Micro Nail

New In Nails: Chanel, Revlon & Micro NailI've recently added to my nail collection (again!) and wanted to share some of my recent finds with you - there are some absolute treasures here! Usually, as soon as Autumn comes around, I tend to wear dark polishes, like grays, blacks and dark reds, but this year I wanted to include some brighter shades.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Up The Ante

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Up The Ante

This is one of my favourite purchases of the last few months! I have been wearing this a ton ever since I got it! I love the colour, it's a gorgeous pinky purple. The formula is fantastic - I don't own any other polishes from this range but I am extremely impressed with this one. It goes on perfectly opaque in two thin coats, has a very nice gel finish and stays chip-free for a long time. I can wear this for up to 6 days, which is a miracle for me as my polish usually chips after 1-2 days.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Up The Ante €10.99,  available in Boots.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Sweet Star (limited edition)

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Sweet Star

I got this for my birthday and I am in love with it! It's a very interesting shade and definitely something I don't have in my collection. It's hard to say what colour it actually is, it all depends on the lighting: it goes from a steely metallic gray to green  / purple petrol shade. Chanel polishes tend to not be the best when it comes to longevity but they surely make up for that in the shade department. I am not sure if they have changed the formula of this particular shade or whether it is  my little new nail device I have been using (keep reading for more details) but this polish definitely performs better than some of the other ones I have from the brand.

Emjoi Micro Nail Electric Nail Polisher

Emjoi Micro Nail Electric Nail Polisher

This is, to my surprise, one of my favourite new beauty accessories in a long time! I was quite dubious when this first came across my desk but I am now ready to eat my words! The Micro Nail is basically an electric nail buffer that comes with two attachments, one to buff and the other one to shine your nails. Using this has made a drastic difference not only to the way my bare nails look (lovely & smooth!) but it also makes my nail polish stay on WAY longer! It takes literally 2 minutes to use and the effects are much better than I had after furiously buffing my nails for 20 minutes with a traditional nail buffer. Huge thumbs up from me!

Emjoi Micro Nail Electric Nail Polisher* €49.99 from Boots (replacement roller pads €14.95)

What are your favourite new nail finds? I would love to know!

More Revlon Love: Colorburst Lacquer Balm

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer BalmHere is part two of my little Revlon Rave. If you haven't already seen it I also have a post on the recently launched Colorburst Balm Stains (here), which are gorgeous too. The Lacquer Balms are a bit of a different animal - here you get shine & glossy finish. It isn't as glossy as I thought it would be (Revlon website says vinyl finish) but to me that is a good thing - it doesn't feel sticky or gloopy on the lips. The formula is lovely & moisturising, it contains, as do the matte stains, Revlon's triple butter complex of of Shea, Coconut and Mango butters. The color payoff is quite strong and the balm, at least the shade I have, comes out quite opaque. I went for colour 120 Vivacious, it's quite a warmish pink/red and has no shimmer in it, like some of the other Lacquer Balms do. I was really impressed with the staying power of this product and, like with all lip crayons, it is so easy to touch up your lips on the go. There is 10 lovely shades in the collection & I will certainly be going back to pick up a couple more.

I am generally not a huge fan of very glossy lips but find that this product can be blotted down with fingers for a slightly more natural finish. I definitely prefer the matte version of these but for those of you who prefer a more glossy lip, this is a great product, very much worth checking out!Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm

New Revlon Matte Balm

Revlon Colorburst Matte BalmI have been waiting for these ever since I saw them used by Gucci Westman at fashion shows early last year. So you can imagine my joy when I walked into Boots today to find these beauties sitting at the Revlon counter. They must literally just be in, as all of the testers were brand new and I was the first swatcher (oh yeah!!!). There are 10 beautiful shades in this collection and I picked up the colour Standout (250), although I definitely will be picking up all of the others too. There is something there for everyone!Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Standout is a beautiful, rich red colour and applies completely opaque. The formula is lovely! Revlon say that the Matte Balms have "(...) velvety matte finish and balm-like feel" and it really is true. The effect you get from it is a matte / velvet lip but it also feels nice and nourishing; it basically will not give you that dry feeling a matte lipstick would as they contain a mix of Shea, Coconut and Mango butters to hydrate and nourish your lips. The colour payoff is fabulous and you literally only need a minute to get your perfect matte lip on, without having to use a lip pencil. It will come in so handy on the go or when you just don't have the time!Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

I absolutely adore this colour & cannot wait to get back into Boots and pick up the rest (I have my eye on the purple shade Shameless)! I have a feeling that this Matte Balm will be my best friend over then next few weeks. I also found that the colour still looks great after a few hours on my lips (minimal retouching after food). I would definitely recommend these, especially if you do like the look of a matte lip but dread that dry feeling!

I have also picked up one of the Lacquer Balms that have launched alongside the Matte Balms... but more of that in my next post!

Have you tried these yet? Let me know what you think!!

Our Winter / Christmas Nail Polish Picks

Winter & Christmas Nail PolishesI have admitted it before, I have a slight problem when it comes to nail polish, I just can't stop buying it! I've had a look through my little (or some might say ridiculously big) polish collection and have dug out the ones that will be on my nails through December and especially the festive season.

The polish I wear most at the moment is Rouge Noir from Chanel and the Dior Diva one, which is a gorgeous black with gold and red glitter shot through it. Unfortunately it is a limited edition but they have a dark red one with golden glitter in their Christmas collection this year, also very beautiful. Depending on what I will be wearing on Christmas day (not decided yet) I will probably have the red glitter from Deborah Lipmann or Chanel's Quartz on my nails.

I haven't bought any new ones lately but I have my eye on a few. One of them is Essie's Hors D'evours, a beautiful silver and gold glitter and from the same collection a black glitter Essie's Belugaria. This collection hasn't yet launched in the UK and Ireland but I'm hoping I will be able to get my hands on it soon...

What are your favourite winter / Christmas nail polishes?
