New In: VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser

VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser

I admit, I have only recently become a  diffuser convert. I am quite picky (aka snobbish) when it comes to home scents as some of them can be quite harsh, chemical and smell nothing like what they are supposed to smell like, with pine scents being the absolute worst! My scented candle collection is therefore on the small side and I am always ecstatic when I manage to find a new home scent I love. This one from VOYA is not a candle but the first ever diffuser to make an appearance in my home.

It was love at first... sniff. It literally smells like a luxurious spa! The notes in it are a blend of lavender with the lighter notes of chamomile with an undertone of luscious rose wood. It is simply divine! It's that relaxing  and serene scent that we all associate with a visit to a luxurious spa for a pamper session.

I love the packaging of it too! VOYA is a brand that specialises in seaweed and the design of the bottle reminds me of the beach - it's evocative of beautiful sea glass and wood washed out on the beach. It would make an absolutely beautiful present and with Mothers Day just around the corner it is definitely one to check out.

The VOYA Oh So Scented Diffuser costs €44 and is available in VOYA salons nationwide and on the VOYA website.

Have you got a favourite home scent?

Scents of Summer: L'Occitane Florals

Scent of Summer

So far the summer in Ireland has unfortunately not really been very convincing with the days still on the cool side. I have however decided that, warm or not, my summer arsenal is coming out! We've been waiting long enough and we can at least make ourselves feel summery and pray for the warm days to come.

L'Occitane are the kings (or queens?) of floral scents. This spring and summer they have brought out some amazing ranges that are just the essence of summer scents. We have previously written about the amazing (and unfortunately limited edition, so hurry) Fig & Osmanthus cologne - you must try it! As part of their spring and summer releases we now also have the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc collection.

The Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc eau de toilette is what I can only describe as a grown up summer floral. It's sweet but at the same time still elegant and sophisticated. The top notes of this fragrance are blackcurrant and citrus followed by heart notes of iris, ylang-yland and peach and a base of iris, cedar and white musk.

The packaging is, as always, dreamy so the Iris range would make an absolutely perfect gift for summer birthdays.

Scent of Summer

As part of the range you can also get the luxurious shower gel (€18.50) and body lotion (€24.50), as well as hand cream (€10.50) and soap (€5).

The Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette is €62 (75ml) and available from L'Occitane Boutiques.

New In: L'Occitane Aromachology

L'Occitane AromachologyThis must be one of my favourite launches (if not THE favourite) when it comes to aromatherapy / bodycare this year! The packaging just screams vintage apothecary chic and what's inside is even better! The new line from L'Occitane is all about expertly blended essential oils designed to help you de-stress, unwind and... smell amazing!.

There are two groups of products in this range: the Relaxing Line and the Revitalizing Line. For someone who has trouble getting to sleep, like myself, the bedtime and bathtime rituals are a godsend! I particularly love the Relaxing Pillow Mist (€20) that I have been spraying every single night since I got it! The combination of Lavender, Sweet Orange, Rosemary and Bergamot oils is heavenly and truly does help me relax. The same goes for the Relaxing Massage Body Oil (€16.50) - it smells fantastic and feels gorgeous on the skin. If you love your pamper time and relaxing products this range is for you!

L'Occitane Aromachology

The next product I tried was from the Revitalizing Line and it was the fresh, citrus-scented Revitalizing Body Scrub (€27). It's a delicious concoction of sugar crystals, lemon zest and essential oils like lemon, rosemary, grapefruit, mint and orange. I kid you not, this stuff smells good enough to eat and I will admit that I was tempted to give it a go! I am not sure about the culinary value of the product (haven't quite braved it..) but I can vouch for the cosmetic one - the product is beautiful and leaves my skin feeling luscious and fresh. The scents are truly uplifting and perfect for an early morning shower!

I cannot rave enough about this beautiful range! Even if only for the amazing, retro packaging you must go into your nearby L'Occitane Boutique! And while you're there give everything a sniff, you will not regret it! The range launches in L'Occtitane Boutiques in August 2014.

I cannot wait to pick up the rest of the range, I have my eye on the bath salts and the revitalizing roll-on, which will come in handy as a pick-me-up during those long busy days I spend in the city.

Are you a fan of aromatherapy? If so, let me know your star product, I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Summer In A Bottle: L'Occitane Verbena

L'Occitane Frisson de VerveineL'Occitane are knocking it out of the park when it comes to summer scents this year. L'Occitane release a Verbena range every year and I haven't encountered one that I didn't like but this one is without a doubt my favourite so far. We've are having a fab summer in Ireland and I have been enjoying using this uber fresh and zesty number during the day.

The Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette is a unisex fragrance full of beautiful, fresh scents such as lemon, bergamot, cucumber and verbena, obviously. It is wonderfully refreshing and cooling, perfect for the summer heat.

In the same range you can find several different products like the hand cream (which is a cooling gel in this line), shower gel, bath salts as well as a cooling body mist and, my favourite, an Ice Gel for legs and feet (which will be the star of a post shortly - it's FAB!!).

This fragrance, being an eau de toilette, doesn't last absolute ages, at least not on me. There is an easy fix for this though, if you layer it by first using a body lotion or shower gel from the range, the scent will stay on much longer!

The scent has landed in L'Occitane boutiques in the beginning of July so if you haven't yet do go in and give it a sniff!

Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette* from L'Occitane is €49

Have you tried this years Verbena range yet? Let me know what you think!

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Ultra Nourishing Oil

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Body Oil

A brand new and exciting launch from Roger & Gallet has arrived at the Pink Elephant Blog HQ recently and I cannot tell you how excited I was when I saw it! I am a known fig scent addict and if I see anything fig-scented I just have to have it. There is something addictive about this scent, it’s fruity in a grown up way and earthy at the same time. It is the perfect summer scent, it smells very natural, just as if you bit into a fresh, ripe fig! And the fact that it comes in a beautiful dry oil formula makes the Fleur de Figuier Ultra Nourhsing Oil* all the more fabulous!

The oil has a wonderful velvety texture and contains some fantastic ingredients - vitamins A, E, F and K help to soften and hydrate the skin, as well as six rich fruit oils, for maximum nourishment:

Nourishing grape seed oil, with emollient and free radical properties thanks to its omega 6, vitamin E. Pomegranate seed oil, recognised for its soothing properties thanks to its punicic acid (omega 5), a rare fatty acid known for its anti-inflammatory action. Sweet almond oil, helps to prevent dehydration by forming a soft, protective and soothing film on the skin’s surface. Blackcurrant seed oil, with omegas 3 & 6 and vitamin E, is recognised for its ability to bring suppleness and elasticity to the epidermis. Olive oil, rich in oleic acid (omega 9) and vitamins A, B, C, E and K. Avocado oil, recognised for its regenerating and soothing powers, nourishes the skin and helps to keep it moisturised.

This dry oil is suitable even for sensitive skin and can also be used on the ends of your hair (it makes your hair smell amazing!!!). To tell you the truth, I slather it on pretty much from head (well, the dry ends of my hair) to toe because I love the scent & the way it softens my skin. It  gives my skin that gorgeous sheen, which is especially nice for the days I have my legs out! I also find that if you layer the oil with the Fleur de Figuier Eau Riche fragrance (€39.75 for 100ml) the scent lasts the whole day and you walk around smelling delicious!

This launch gets a massive thumbs up from me, if you are passing a Roger & Gallet stand make sure you give this a sniff!

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Ultra Nourhsing Oil is €26.95 for 100ml

There are also some other products in the range that I will be picking up as well: Perfumed Soap (€6.95), Gentle Shower Cream (€9.90) and Replenishing Body Lotion (€15).

Have you tried any products from the fig range?

Eccentric Molecules - Molecule 01

Eccentric Molecules Molecule 01Let me introduce you to my new friend - Eccentric Molecules Molecule 01. My lovely husband got it for me for Christmas & I've been wearing it ever since. When I heard about it first (lots of rave reviews on blogs and YouTube), I thought it was a bit gimmicky but when it appeared in Harvey Nichols I had to have a sniff. Here is what Eccentric Molecules say about the scent:

Molecule 01 consists of one single ingredient, ‘Iso E Super’. On its own it is less of an aroma than an effect. The wearer may notice a pleasant, subtle velvety-woody note which will vanish, then re-surface after some time, but more than this, she or he will notice the impact it has on other people. “Molecule 01 lends an indefinable radiance to the wearer,” says Geza Schoen. In fact, its effect is almost pheromonic.

Initially I thought it smelled a little of alcohol and after a little while it smelled of nothing at all. But (!!) a few minutes after spraying it onto my wrist it developed this amazing woody, slightly masculine & sexy smell - right up my street. When I got it and started wearing it the scent kept disappearing and coming back every now and then, I thought I have just gotten used to it and can't really smell it anymore. I knew it was still there because a lot of people were complementing the perfume and asking what scent I was wearing. Not sure about the radiance and the pheromonic effect but I haven't wanted to wear anything else since the 25th December (sorry, Jo Malone)!

Since the huge success of Molecule 01 the company has brought out several different scents all as quirky as the original. They definitely have a new and original approach to fragrance and are absolutely worth checking out.

P.S. - It's a unisex smell so the boys in your life may like this one too!

Let me know what you think if you've tried it!

You can buy Molecule 01 in Harvey Nichols and online it's available from Cult Beauty.

This Works Black Spice & Cedar Candle

this-worksNow that the weather is a little on the horrible side, I am craving warm, spicy and dark scents. I am quite fussy with candles, I don't like when they smell too much of chemicals... I'm always on the lookout for a yummy natural smelling candle that will fill my house with a lovely and welcoming scent.

With this in mind I picked up the This Works Black Spice & Cedar Candle. I absolutely adore the smell of it! I already know I will be buying another one when this one burns out. This little beauty is a blend of warm, woody and spicy essential oils of cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh and cedar. When I burn it my house smells like I've just baked something extremely delicious - it actually makes me want to bake!

If you are a fan of spicy and warm scents this is definitely one to check out. This is genuinely one of my favourite candles ever (big statement here, but I just can't get enough!)
