Mulled Apple Juice Recipe

Mulled Apple Juice Recipe

This time of year, give me mulled anything and I will be happy! There's nothing quite like a steaming hot mug of something delicious to warm you up on a winter's night. Personally, I can't get enough of mulled wine but it's not everyone's cup of tea (pun absolutely intended!). For those of you who are not fans of the tang of the classic mulled red, we have some fabulous alternatives. This week, it's Mulled Apple Juice.

Cold Weather Essentials: Winter Woolies

Cold Weather Essentials: Winter Woolies | Pink Elephant Blog.It seems as though our freakishly warm November has taken an unforgiveable sharp turnaround, complete with gale force winds and a side of rain. Truth be told there’s nowhere I’d rather been than at home under my duvet when it’s like this outside, but when getting up and showing up is the only option, then gorgeously cosy winter woolies are just what’s needed.

There is no shortage of beautiful winter wear on the highstreet right now, and what better excuse to hit the shops than not wanting to catch a cold (we’re sensible like that!). Here are a few current favourites when it comes to wrapping up warm this winter…

The Details: Burgundy + Grey

If you've read any of my recent fashion posts you will know that grey is my current obsession! Another colour I've been loving recently however is burgundy. It's the perfect autumnal colour and is great way of adding a pop of colour to my otherwise quite monochrome outfit. I can't get enough of this combo!

Styling Wardrobe Essentials for Autumn / Winter

How To Style Wardrobe Essentials for Autumn / Winter

For me a new season always means a little bit of wardrobe  updating aka... SHOPPING! With all the new arrivals at my favourite stores it's difficult not to get excited and go a little crazy. This is exactly what used to happen every single year - I would see lots of new things and pick up a ton of trendy pieces that I never ended up wearing...

This year I've gone for a slightly different approach - the capsule wardrobe. My goal is to buy staple pieces that are versatile, classic and easy to wear. I am starting with my two absolute favourite purchases of the year: my black Topshop Jamie Jeans (classic, skinny high-waisted jeans) and a grey wool coat from Zara.

Dressed Up

You may already know that both Becky & I are obsessed with grey coats this season so it was just a matter of time before one made it into my wardrobe. A grey coat is a staple that can be worn dressed up as well as really casually.

This is usually as dressed up as I will go. I adore this laid back combo of the dark lip and soft cashmere jumper. To make this slightly more dressy  some pointed black heels would be fab!

Dressed Down

I value comfort above all else so wearing sneakers and beanies is just a dream come true to me! With the below outfit I would also often pop on a red lip if I'm feeling a bit more glamorous that day!

Autumn Lookbook: Boohoo AW15 Collection

Boohoo-AW15.jpg

Boohoo AW15 LookbookBoohoo AW15 Lookbook

It’s still Summer- just. Meaning our minds are firmly on the beauty that is Autumn dressing. I remain firmly on team Autumn when it comes to seasonal favorite’s, we almost always get our best weather in Autumn, I get to celebrate my Birthday (I’ve the excitement of a seven year old when it comes to my birthday) and AW lines roll out along the high-street, which if we’re completely honest are always the best collections. Boohoo AW15 Lookbook

I don’t even harbour any bitterness about our non-summer come this time of year. Once I catch of glimpse of brown tall leather boots and knit capes in stores, I’m over summer. Boohoo have featured on our radar the past few seasons, and with an AW15 collection full of gorgeous layered silhouettes, softer than expected palettes and what’s likely to be the last of the denim trend, it makes for some perfect seasonal wardrobe updates at this time of year. Here’s a few lookbook favourites…

Winter Skin: L'Occitane Shea Butter Skincare

Loccitane Shea Butter SkincareEven though spring is, hopefully on it's way we are all still struggling with winter skin thanks to the cold days and central heating. My combination skin is always extremely dry and tight over the winter months and I reach for richer and more moisturising products. The L'Occitane Shea Butter range is much loved and to my delight they have added some more skincare products to it!

First up, the Cleansing Oil* which contains 5% of shea oil. It's fantastic even if you (like me) are prone to oiliness or breakouts as it leaves no residue on the skin. It takes off all my makeup, including eye makeup and leaves my skin super smooth and nourished without making it feel greasy. Love!

The other product from the collection I have tried is a new little favourite of mine - the Comforting Cream Light*. It also contains 5% shea butter and even though it is quite rich and moisturising it doesn't leave a greasy film on the skin and I actually found that it's a perfect base for makeup!

L'Occitane Shea Butter Skincare

Both products smell of that pleasant clean scent of the L'Occitane Shea Butter range which doesn't bother me at all but if you are sensitive to smells maybe give the products a sniff in store first.

I have been using both products for the past weeks and my skin has been great - no dry patches, tightness or irritation that I usually get when the weather is cold! If you struggle at all with winter skin make sure to try the range! I can't recommend these two products enough!

Winter Skin Saviours

Winter Skin SavioursI am not complaining - nothing worse than looking at all those Christmas decorations while it's a balmy 15 degrees outside - but the weather has gone considerably colder in the last few days  so it is high time I got out my trusted winter skin saviours to battle my dry, irritated and chapped skin.

First up is the amazing Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, something I reach for all year around to use on my lips but in the colder months I use it as an all purpose balm, mainly on my elbows and dry patches on my legs. The Eight Hour Cream is a combination of petroleum jelly and vitamin E and has a very thick, comforting and soothing consistency. It's a real multi-tasker and  I always carry it in my handbag in winter. It can protect you from the evil central heating and air conditioning, it soothes, calms and helps relieve minor skin irritations, including roughness, redness, chapped, cracked or dry skin.

My other can't-live-without product in winter is the world famous Creme de Corps from Kiehl's. I admit, I am very lazy with body moisturisers and for most of the year I use in-shower body conditioners but they don't seem to do the job in the colder months. Creme de Corps is a super rich & thick body lotion that makes my skin feel soothed and get's rid of that dry, itchy and tight feeling immediately. It is packed with moisturising plant oils and butters like jojoba oil, cocoa butter and sesame seed oil. It doesn't have a fragrance, looks very basic but is the best at doing what it's supposed to do! A must-have in winter!

Finally, the newest addition to my winter line-up is the Hand and Nail Treatment Cream by Clarins. In winter I always look for a hand cream that is super moisturising and rich without leaving a greasy film on my hands during the day - I hate that feeling more than anything! This cream does form a protective layer over your skin but doesn't feel sticky or greasy at all. It contains nourishing sesame oil and instantly softens and comforts dry, chapped, irritated skin and is fantastic on nails and cuticles.

So here is my little winter skin saviour trio. What are your favourite winter products? I would love to hear your recommendations!

Boohoo AW 14 Press Day

Boohoo AW Preview

We attended the Boohoo AW 14 Preview yesterday and ended up leaving a little bit in love with pretty much everything in those rooms! There is a mixture of glam and cozy on offer this season - faux furs, sequins, tartan and scandi print are king (or queen ;P).

We are both big fans of boohoo.com and will definitely be hitting the site to grab some fab pieces for the new season! That red fur....!

What do you think of the collection?

A & B. xx
